Watercolour artist & maker
About

It all started with a bullet journal
I come from the Vosges region of France and I work in healthcare.
That is exactly where it all began.
During my studies I discovered bullet journalling with friends. Very quickly, those pages felt incomplete without colour. I needed to bring them to life, but coloured pencils were not for me. So I bought a small watercolour palette, almost out of curiosity. It was 2018, and without knowing it, I had just met my passion.
The gift that changed everything
For a year and a half, I painted every day in my bullet journal, with a single small brush on the wrong kind of paper. My partner decided to step in. After asking the team at Aquarelle et Pinceaux for advice, he gave me my first real brushes and my very first pad of cotton paper.
It was a revelation. I rediscovered watercolour in a completely new light, and I never put it down again.
Learning, progressing, flourishing
In 2022, I felt I was plateauing and could no longer move forward on my own. So I decided to invest in a watercolour fundamentals course with Marie Boudon: starting from scratch to build something solid. I am lucky enough to have an office entirely dedicated to my practice, and I painted daily for nearly a year.
Since nobody around me shared this passion, I started my Instagram account @metsleauencouleur in 2023 to connect with other watercolour artists. I took part in challenges and prompts, and little by little I found what I love: painting coherent series, with defined palettes and precise themes.
My goal is simple: to bring poetry and calm by letting nature, animals and Japanese aesthetics into everyday life. And to make accessible what is not always so: the depths of the ocean, the beauty of a bird in flight…
A world between nature, animals and Japan
Passionate about animals since childhood and raised on Studio Ghibli films, I naturally made nature and Japan my favourite subjects. I discovered a deep love for working on detail and texture: plumage, moss, wood, scales…

Beautiful tools to create beautiful things
I work mainly on 100% cotton paper and use, for the most part, handmade watercolours produced by French artisans.
Hand-ground colours, hand-bound sketchbooks, artisan ceramic palettes: supporting the work of these makers is part of my approach. I firmly believe we create better when we hold carefully made tools in our hands.
A professional watercolour artist, and proud of it
Since May 2026, I'm officially a professional watercolour artist. A new adventure begins: sending my work out into the world so it finds a new home and becomes a small part of daily life for the people who own it.
An online shop and beginner workshops will soon see the light of day. If you would like to be among the first to know, do join me on Instagram or write to me directly 🌿
